When Yemeni Houthis launched a ballistic missile that slipped by Israel’s air defense systems on Sunday, it was only a matter of time before a response was mounted. That response has now occurred. According to multiple reports and video footage, Israel carried out a large-scale bombardment of Hodeidah, the Houthis’ main port, on Monday, with an estimated 20 to 30 aircraft taking part in the strikes.
Onlookers filmed the scene, showing fires engulfing the area.
At least 20 fighter jets took part in the strike against Houthi infrastructure, launching dozens of precision-guided munitions.

Israeli leaders, including Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, were shown watching the attacks as they took place. They appear to be part of a larger campaign being carried out in coordination with the United States. President Donald Trump ordered the beginning of strikes in mid-May as a response to Houthi attacks on international shipping lanes. American ordnance rained down on Sana’a, the Houthi capital, at nearly the same time the Israelis were bombing Hodeidah.

As impressive as this all is, the problem of Iran remains. While strikes on the Houthis may diminish the terrorist group’s ability to launch missiles and drones at Israel (at least for a time), they are still just proxies of the Mullahs. As long as Iran is allowed to float above the fray, funding and coordinating strikes on Israel and American interests with impunity, the cycle of violence will continue. At some point, you have to punch the bully in the face. That doesn’t mean there needs to be a ground invasion. In fact, I’d go so far as to say there absolutely shouldn’t be. But hitting Iran’s nuclear program and military production through airstrikes is a surefire to way to get their attention.
