LA ICE Raids Get Wild; Protester Makes Bad Decision to Block Van; Mayor Bass’ Statement Is Incredible – RedState

According to reports, there were multiple ICE raids in Los Angeles on Friday.

ABC7 reported that the raids prompted “gatherings of protesters who at one point clashed with authorities.” The FBI and the local police were there to help deal with the crowd.

At one scene in downtown Los Angeles, a crowd of people tried to prevent authorities from leaving in vans after multiple people were detained.

Protesters could be seen throwing objects at the vehicles, while others tried to block the vans from leaving.

ICE action occurred at a Home Depot store in Westlake, and an Ambiance store in the Fashion District in downtown L.A.

The protesters harangued the LAPD for helping with the crowd control, saying it’s a sanctuary city and they weren’t supposed to be “collaborating with ICE.” This is how twisted this situation has become when the LAPD is trying to do its job.

Warning for graphic language in following videos:

As the federal agents took off with the people they were detaining, some in the crowd tried to stop the vans. One person even stood in front of one of the vans as it continued to move and tried backpedaling. That was unwise; it did not go well.

The person went down, and it wasn’t clear if he was hurt.

What was crazy was on top of all that, Democrat Mayor Karen Bass acted as though it’s ICE who is in the wrong, and not the people trying to block law enforcement or the people who are here illegally.

“We will not stand for this,” she said in a statement, adding that she was “deeply angered.”

She also told the city, speaking to NBC4:

“My message to them is that we are going to fight for all Angelenos regardless of when they got here, whether they have papers or not,” said Bass. “We are a city of immigrants, and this impacts hundreds of thousands of Angelenos.”

This is enforcement of law. Democrat politicians are now saying, just flat-out, they are against enforcing the law.

There was also an interaction with SEIU California President David Huerta. They claimed he was arrested and injured during the raids while “exercising his First Amendment right to observe and document law enforcement activity.”

This purports to be video of the incident involving Huerta.

It isn’t clear what happens before the video starts, but you see a man falling and then you also see a woman being moved from in front of a van by an agent.

We’ve seen craziness like this before, including in Minneapolis and in New York City. It’s getting out of hand, and the Democrats are ratcheting it up.

But they’re not dissuading DHS from doing their job. DHS issued a statement on the incident, which said in part, “ICE is now following the law and placing these illegal aliens in expedited removal, as they always should have been.”
