NYPD Busts Trump Tower Protestors – RedState

Sometimes you’re hit with a stark contrast. On Monday, we were treated to such a contrast in the handling of pro-illegal immigrant “protestors” in two deep-blue cities: Los Angeles and New York. We’ve all been watching, of course, the ongoing riots and, yes, insurrection in southern California. What’s happening there is almost certainly going to make history, including (we hope) with even the arrests of local and state officials for interfering with federal law enforcement.

In the Big Apple, though, a number of protesters seated themself in the lobby of the Trump Tower, upon which the NYPD descended on them with amazing celerity

I enjoy the repeated statement over a loudspeaker:

Since you have refused to leave the premises, you are now subject to arrest. If you do not accompany the arresting officer voluntarily to the prisoner transport vehicle, or if you resist arrest, you may be charged with additional crimes.

It’s a contrast, yes, to what’s happening in Los Angeles, which is probably why New York’s Mayor isn’t being threatened with arrest.

Note, though, that the Trump Tower event was, actually, a protest. Oh, they broke the law: They were trespassing and likely interfering with other citizens going about their daily affairs. But the New York protesters weren’t attacking cops, throwing rocks, setting fires, or even waving Mexican flags. They are self-deluded goofs with very little idea of immigration law and certainly no understanding of the Supremacy Clause, but at least they just sat on the floor until arrested and hauled away, probably to face a slap on the wrist.

But they were arrested, and quickly. Perhaps that’s the difference. New York City police responded quickly, before anything had the chance to get out of control. Mind you, New York is no stranger to mass protests and even riots, but the city has at least responded. Los Angeles? It sure seems like Mayor Bass convened a focus group to decide what to do, and that this effort encompassed several days before deciding that the best course of action was “nothing”. No, New York isn’t perfect in its response to this stupidity, but it’s leaps and bounds beyond what California is doing.

Here’s the onion: These people broke the law. They are likely facing misdemeanor charges: Trespassing, at the very least. They were told to leave Trump Tower, they refused, and that’s the very definition of trespass – and they got arrested. Breaking the law should have consequences.

In the Los Angeles area, the rioters and rebels causing so much trouble are clearly not worried about consequences. That may well be because for so long, perps in the Los Angeles area rarely faced serious consequences; we’ve seen unchecked urban camping, mass shoplifting, and more, and the various municipal governments along with the state of California seemed to just shrug it all off, except when the odd Chinese premiere was dropping by for a visit.

Now those cities are paying the price, and these same state and local authorities are resisting any federal effort to fix it.

There may be some hope for New York. But southern California?

Thanks to President Trump, illegal immigration into our great country has virtually stopped. Despite the radical left’s lies, new legislation wasn’t needed to secure our border, just a new president.
