Broadway Musical About Alleged CEO Killer Shows How Rotten Elite Culture Has Become – RedState

You cannot hate Broadway or Hollywood enough.

Because apparently, the soulless liberal theater elites of New York and San Francisco looked at the brutal murder of a man on a Manhattan street and decided it would make great musical theater.

A stage production titled “Luigi: The Musical” is scheduled for a staged reading on June 15 at The Green Room 42 in Midtown Manhattan, according to the official announcement promoting the show.

The subject of that musical is Luigi Mangione, the man accused of gunning down UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson in a shocking early morning killing that stunned New York in December of 2024.

A real murder. A real victim. A real family left behind.

And now the accused killer is getting a stage show.

“The co-creators of LUIGI: THE MUSICAL, along with Executive Producer Alan Kliffer, will bring the viral musical comedy to New York City for a staged reading on June 15 at 7 p.m. at The Green Room 42.”

A stage production built around a man accused of murder.

The show imagines Mangione sharing a jail with other infamous inmates.

“The project was inspired by the true story of three high-profile inmates — Luigi Mangione, Diddy, and Sam Bankman-Fried — who were held at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn at the same time.”

The creators say the show is satire.

“The production examines how violence is portrayed and consumed in American culture, using satire to address broader social themes.”

Strip away the marketing language, and the reality is simple.

The man at the center of this show is accused of shooting UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson on a Manhattan street in the early morning of December 4, 2024 — a killing that stunned the city, made national headlines, and left a family mourning a husband and father. Police, prosecutors, and a grieving family are still dealing with the real-world consequences of that crime while the legal process surrounding the case continues to unfold. In other words, the story is not even finished. Yet in the theater world, the story is already being repackaged as dark comedy. Not tragedy. Not a cautionary tale. Comedy.

A real killing has been turned into entertainment for an audience invited to laugh.

It takes a special kind of cultural sickness to look at a brutal killing and think, “This would make a great musical.” That sickness has clearly taken root in parts of the entertainment world where shock value and leftist, ideological performance matter more than basic human decency.

Brian Thompson was not a punchline or a plot device. He was a real person who was murdered in the middle of a city street.

Turning the alleged killer into the star of a stage comedy is not edgy, clever, or insightful.

It is grotesque.

And the fact that people inside the Broadway scene thought this was a good idea tells you everything you need to know about the moral rot infecting the cultural institutions of America’s most progressive cities.

Broadway once celebrated human courage, tragedy, and greatness.

Now it celebrates an accused murderer.
