The US Senate on Tuesday voted to advance the SAVE America Act in a 51-48 vote.

Earlier Tuesday, it was reported that allies of President Donald Trump are reportedly preparing to “take over the Senate floor” today to push for action on the SAVE America Act.

A marathon debate on the SAVE America Act is now underway.

Fox News reported:

Senate Republicans on Tuesday successfully launched their floor takeover to put Senate Democrats on record against Trump-backed voter ID legislation.

It’s a move to shift the spotlight from internal GOP divisions over the Safeguarding American Voter Eligibility (SAVE) America Act onto Senate Democrats, who are ultimately withholding the needed votes to pass the bill.

“Not a single Democrat will support the SAVE Act. It is a radical bill,” Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., said on the Senate floor. “And if Republicans try to burn time on this legislation here on the floor, we will oppose them for as long as it takes.”

“Polling shows broad support for all of the issues included in the SAVE America Act. But never underestimate Democrats’ ability to get on the wrong side of what the American people want,” Leader Thune said ahead of the procedural vote.

Following the Senate’s vote to advance the SAVE America Act, Thune filed several amendments on the bill.

As The Gateway Pundit reported, Trump has already threatened to withhold his signature from all future legislation until the Senate delivers proof-of-citizenship voting requirements, strict voter ID, and an end to the Democrat-favorite mail-in ballot fraud machine.

Unfortunately, the SAVE America Act has stalled because it requires 60 votes in the Senate, and unless the filibuster is nuked, the measure is dead on arrival.
