President Donald Trump says he’s not planning for U.S. troops on the ground in the Middle East.

Democrats have been warning for some time now that they fear the president would commit U.S. troops to the fight there after the U.S. and Israeli militaries launched bombardments against Iran’s nuclear weapons and terror infrastructures.
The Washington Examiner said Trump on Thursday “pledged not to deploy U.S. troops on the ground in the Middle East.”
“No, I’m not putting troops anywhere,” Trump said, “If I were, I certainly wouldn’t tell you. But I’m not putting troops.”
His comments came before a meeting with Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi.
“We have a very special person, just won a tremendous election,” he said. “She’s a great woman. We have a very fine relationship, and we’re going to be talking about trade and many other things.”
He confirmed he would discuss how Japan and America’s other allies can do to help in its fight with the rogue Islamic regime in Iran.
“We’ve had tremendous support and relationship with Japan on everything, and I believe that based on statements that were given to us yesterday … having to do with Japan, they are really stepping up to the plate, yes,” he said.
Japan has agreed to sign a joint statement with the United Kingdom, France, Germany, Italy, and the Netherlands about the Strait of Hormuz, the report said.
