President Donald Trump fired off a social media post Saturday evening, warning the Islamic Republic of Iran that if it doesn’t ensure the crucial waterway of the Strait of Hormuz is fully opened within 48 hours, he will order the destruction of their power plants.
The message said the clock starts as of the moment he posted, which was 7:44 p.m. ET.

If Iran doesn’t FULLY OPEN, WITHOUT THREAT, the Strait of Hormuz, within 48 HOURS from this exact point in time, the United States of America will hit and obliterate their various POWER PLANTS, STARTING WITH THE BIGGEST ONE FIRST! Thank you for your attention to this matter. President DONALD J. TRUMP
As we’ve reported, 20 percent of the world’s oil travels through the narrow strait off the southern coast of Iran, and the embattled regime has been attacking ships and threatening to fire missiles, which has set off volatility in the world’s oil markets.
Trump has pointed out on multiple occasions that Asia and Europe rely on the oil passing through that strait more than the United States does, so if countries in those regions want to keep the waterway open, they’re going to have to step up and do their part to stop the Iranians.

The president said he would “obliterate” Iran’s power plants, “starting with the biggest one first!” That would seem to put a bullseye on one of their nuclear facilities:
Iran’s largest power plant is the Bushehr Nuclear Power Plant, located on the Persian Gulf in southwest Iran. It is Iran’s only commercial nuclear power plant.
The Strait of Hormuz has been effectively closed to most ship traffic by Iran’s military forces since the war began three weeks ago. The crucial waterway is responsible for the movement of approximately 20% of all global oil, and its shuttering has led to a spike in gas prices.
Mr. Trump’s statement comes after the Treasury Department Friday announced that it was lifting sanctions on Iranian oil at sea as it attempts to bring down those prices.

What’s left of the regime has been put on notice, and they’d better start setting their smartwatch timers. The United States and Israel have already decimated the military forces, but if we manage to shut off the power to the country, things could get a whole lot worse for them.
