An Alabama local named Rick Karle, who shares feel-good stories like I do on this column, posted this video on Thursday in the early morning hours. It is a personal plea from a 15-year-old named Will Roberts, from Ralph, Alabama (Tuscaloosa County). Will has been battling osteosarcoma, a rare form of aggressive bone cancer for almost a year-and-a-half.
Will thought he had licked it, and even rang the bell when he completed treatment. Tragically, the cancer came back with a vengeance, taking his leg with it. Will Roberts’ story is a powerful testament to not only the faith and perseverance embodied in a young one, but what can happen when we use whatever platform we have to help someone in their journey, no matter what they are facing.
Fierce faith and powerful allies is the subject of this week’s Feel-Good Friday.
Fifteen-year-old Will Roberts told WVTM 13 he has been battling stage four osteosarcoma for nearly a year and a half. The rare and aggressive form of bone cancer has taken away the things he loves most, including fishing, hunting and playing sports. He said living with cancer has been frustrating.
“I was very, very frustrated after it had spread everywhere again, because I knew the road was just going to be just as long — if not longer — because I thought I had completely made it. I rang the bell and everything, and they told me I was cancer-free, but then a little bit later they looked at the scans and they saw something was wrong,” Will said.
His mom Brittney uses Facebook to share about Will’s battle, so Will decided one night he would post this powerful plea for help. Will got right to it, saying in the video below:
My chemos [treatments] are just not working, and I’ve been fighting it for a little bit now, January of 2025. And, it’s just not much is working, I mean, we’ve tried basically everything that there is and we’re getting toward the end of the road, and I need help. Can you all please just share this, like, everything y’all can do to get this video out to either President Donald Trump or Robert F. Kennedy Jr.? That would just help me so much. I’m just, my mom’s found this drug that could possibly save my life if we get it on time.
What he said next is an absolute gut punch, but shows the maturity and wisdom of someone so young, and who is literally fighting for his life.
Chances are, is, this is probably the end of the road for me, and they probably won’t get it in time. But if this can help other kids with my cancer, I would love to help in any way I can. But ya’ll, I’m terrified. Just like ya’ll would be if y’all know you’re about to die.
The cancer has spread all over Will’s body, including his liver. Will said his mom Brittney has spent sleepless nights researching for any cure that could help save her son.
Will concluded with, “If ya’ll can just help get in touch with them, or help get this video out so they can see it that would be just amazing.”
Grab a box of tissues, because this video will break your heart.

Karle immediately posted it to his social media channels, and said on Facebook that this would be the only video he’d post that day. He wanted this one to capture the algorithm so that it gained the attention and advocacy needed.

Man, did the internet do its thing! University of Alabama head baseball coach Rob Vaughn had a personal connection to young Will in the midst of this battle, and he reposted Will’s video on his platform.
Will is a fighter — met him at Children’s last year and has spent some time with us this spring… what a special young man. Wrapping you in prayer, buddy — I believe in a God that can move mountains and make the impossible possible. Believing that for you now, my friend! https://t.co/4rmEVxl225

The sharing and support, as well as the outpouring of prayers and well wishes toward Will’s request for help, was truly tremendous. Along with other online influencers, Congressman Barry Moore (R-01), Republican Sens. Tommy Tuberville and Katie Britt, country singer and entrepreneur John Rich, and so many others, shared Will’s plight.
Alabama Republican U.S. Senate candidate Jared Hudson is a former Navy SEAL. Hudson was so moved by Will’s story that he presented him with his SEAL Trident.
In the Teams we say: earn your trident every day.
After watching Will Roberts’ story, I can tell you he’s earned mine.Fighting rare cancer, he’s focused on others, pushing for life-saving treatments after losing 6 friends.

In a space of less than 24 hours, Will’s video reached around the nation (and the world), and did indeed reach the White House.
White House Assistant to the President and Deputy Chief of Staff Dan Scavino responded on one influencer’s post.
We see and hear you, Will. Hang in there🙏@WhiteHouse, @POTUS, @DrOzCMS, @SecKennedy are tracking.

Rep. Barry Moore (R-AL-01) expressed his gratitude for the viral reach, and updated on what had transpired since Scavino’s post.
It’s truly amazing to see what can be done when Alabamians and folks across the country can unite behind a cause.

In just one day, Will Roberts’ story got the nation’s attention, and just hours ago, Heather and I, our friend @Rictavius_, and others found out that HHS and the White House will be approving Will’s treatment plan.
That said, we encourage you to donate to the GoFundMe below to keep Will and his family going through this fight.
Give what you can, and remember to keep Will in your prayers!
But it is Brittney Roberts’ gratitude that most deserves attention. Brittney posted this more detailed and absolutely joyful update on her Facebook page.
I don’t even know where to begin… but I know I need to give credit where it’s due. WILL DID THIS!!!! EVERY bit of this. He advocated for himself and helped move mountains.
While I thought he was sleeping beside me the last several nights, I was up pouring everything I had into emails… reaching out to anyone and everyone… trying to move mountains that just would not budge.
What I didn’t know is that Will was listening. He heard every word. Every prayer. Every tear I tried to keep quiet and then he did something Jason and I couldn’t do…
He took the bull by the horns and used his own voice.
Most of you know he has access to my Facebook, and this isn’t the first time he’s posted from my account. Y’all also know what happened after his last post… yeah, we’re STILL getting golf balls in the mail.
He knew the power of that. So he used it again and within HOURS… everything changed.
Jason and I witnessed firsthand just how powerful social media can be when it reaches the right hearts.
I will forever be grateful to Ric Mayers and his wife Chloe. That man didn’t just watch a video and scroll on… he found my number and called to ask what he could do.
From there, things started moving FAST.
People stepped in and ran with it:
– Barry Moore
– Jared Hudson
– Hank Williams Jr. and his wife Brandi
And so many others who have supported us all along:
– Katie Britt
– Tommy Tuberville
– Gerald Allen
– Businessman Stan Pate
– And every single one of YOU who have shared, prayed, and stood with us
Because of ALL of this and EACH of you we got a call this morning from Dr. Oz.
He personally contacted the developing doctors of the drug DeltaRex-G in Santa Monica…and just like that…movement began.
We have now had a tele-health call with the doctors, and they told us that Will is gaining access to the drug and we will be traveling to Santa Monica very soon.
I am overwhelmed in a way I can’t even explain. I don’t even know if I’ve asked the right questions yet. I just know something shifted… and it shifted FAST.
But make no mistake…This started with a 15 year old who refused to stay quiet, watched his parents dying on the inside along with him, and knowing he could give many others a chance even if he didn’t make it in time to get a chance for himself.
So tonight, I’m asking you to do one thing….Get on your knees and thank God. PRAISE HIM!!!! God has been moving this entire time… even when we couldn’t see it and this time…He used Will’s voice to do it.
Amen. What a brave and beautiful family.
Things are moving at warp speed for Will and the Roberts, as they need to be. So, by the time you read this, there could be even more updates. You can follow their continued journey on Brittney Roberts’ Facebook page. You can also contribute to Will and the family’s trip to Santa Monica, CA, along with medical costs and overall well-being through this GoFundMe. Throughout this journey, the Roberts have had scammers try to take advantage of others in their son’s name, so we ensured this link is the legitimate one.
Will and his family are fellow Alabamians and fellow Americans, so I’ll do my best to keep you abreast of what happens from here on out.
If you believe in prayer, send some up for Will Roberts and his family. Prayer remains the truest viral reach, and it is awesome how God uses it to activate human assistance – and the power of technology in order to get a young boy’s message to the President of the United States. Will and his family have been given not only a ray of hope, but a chance at lifesaving treatment.
