Earlier, RedState reported on a statement made by Democrat House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (NY-08) a day after the third assassination attempt on President Donald Trump in less than two years.
In a Sunday night tweet, Jeffries wrote that “America will not be lectured about civility by far-right extremists in Congress. Particularly those who provide aid and comfort to hundreds of violent rioters who brutally beat police officers on January 6.” He added, “Now is a time to unify,” which was a rather strange remark considering he just called his political opposition, which has legit concerns about incendiary Democrat rhetoric, “far-right extremists.”
This followed an incredibly tone-deaf tweet from Jeffries on Saturday night in which he didn’t mention the president’s name once, and stated that he was “Thankful for the swift law enforcement action to protect everyone from gunfire at the White House Correspondents Dinner. Praying for the safety of those who may remain in harm’s way. The violence and chaos in America must end.”

If there’s one thing we know about Democrats beyond the fact that the only standards they have are double standards, it’s that they hate being confronted about their actions – actions they frequently misattribute to the other side, or blame them for, whichever the case may be.
On Monday afternoon, some intrepid reporter boldly decided to ask Jeffries if – in light of what happened Saturday – he stood by comments from last week, where he called for “maximum warfare, everywhere, all the time” against Republicans amid the various redistricting battles. Before we get to Jeffries’ response, here was GOP Rep. Kat Cammack (FL-03) calling him out for the slogan Sunday night:
How does one “unify” if you are promising “maximum warfare… everywhere…all the time.” Asking for a friend. 🤔 https://t.co/aQG2HRgkJJ pic.twitter.com/RlgG0cXpwY

Jeffries doubled down Monday afternoon in a true “crossing the Rubicon” moment:
What they’re saying: “As it relates to the comment related to ‘maximum warfare, everywhere, all the time,’ in connection with the redistricting battle that Republicans launched, I stand by it,” Jeffries said at a press conference Monday.
- Addressing “so-called criticism from these phony Republicans,” Jeffries said: “You can continue to criticize me for it. I don’t give a damn about the criticism … get lost.”
- Jeffries noted that the phrase originated from a source that the Times described as being “close to” President Trump.

What a ridiculous and, frankly, childish response from Jeffries.
For starters, a random anonymous source is not necessarily proof of anything. Secondly, assuming it was something that came from a Trump administration figure several months ago, so what? It’s not a statement that has been repeated, and certainly hasn’t been turned into a key midterms “in your face” campaign slogan, as Jeffries has done.
This is like a child saying, “Mommie, so and so said something mean about me, so I’m gonna get back at them by putting a target on their back.” I mean, seriously. This is the House Minority Leader we’re talking about here.
However, the phrase originated, it is especially dumb to double down on it after what happened Saturday night. I remember many years ago how Democrats and the media were falsely blaming Republicans for the Gabrielle Giffords attempted assassination, with then-President Barack Obama calling for a “new tone” in politics. The media and the left bent over backwards to discourage terms like “crosshairs” and anything else that could be misconstrued as a call for violence.
But now, it’s open season, or, as Jeffries would say, “maximum warfare” time against Republicans. Between that and the crazed claims that Trump is an “authoritarian” and “dictator” who is like a modern-day Hitler, Democrats are crossing all kinds of lines that can’t be uncrossed.
I hate to say it, but if Trump nearly getting killed in the second assassination attempt and then Charlie Kirk being assassinated didn’t stop them from going down this dangerous road, I don’t know what, if anything, will. I mean, they are now openly coddling Hasan Piker, for crying out loud. It’s crazy. And yet they want to lecture Republicans about toning it down??
Editor’s Note: The 2026 Midterms will determine the fate of President Trump’s America First agenda. Republicans must maintain control of both chambers of Congress.
