Pesky Detail Throws Big Wrench in Democrat Narrative on FBI Investigation of VA State Senator – RedState

RedState reported earlier on the FBI search that was being conducted at the Portsmouth office of Virginia Senate President Pro Tempore Louise Lucas (D), a powerful state lawmaker representing District 18 who has been in office since 1992 and who, as my colleague Teri Christoph noted, was the “chief architect of the gerrymandered map that could possibly steal four congressional seats currently held by Republicans.”

In addition to the Portsmouth office, a cannabis store located next door that she co-owns was also searched, along with “other locations,” as part of a corruption probe.

Immediately after the news broke, Lucas’ Democrat defenders in Virginia tried, without evidence, to portray her as a victim of political persecution. “While we await the full facts of the investigation, it must be acknowledged that this FBI raid occurs in the broader context of President Trump’s repeated abuse of the Department of Justice to target his perceived political opponents,” Democrat Congressman Bobby Scott (VA-03) proclaimed in a statement.

Virginia House Speaker Don Scott (D) remarked that, “Given the politicization of this administration — an FBI led by Kash Patel and a Justice Department run by President Donald Trump’s former personal attorney — I think people should take this with a grain of salt and allow the facts to come out before jumping to conclusions.”

These statements are unintentionally hilarious for multiple reasons, with the primary one being that the corruption/bribery probe actually began during… the Biden administration:

Two people familiar with the case said the search was related to an investigation opened during the Biden administration that has continued, examining possible corruption and bribery related to marijuana dispensary businesses.

Interestingly, if you read between the lines, some of the same Democrats who are howling at the moon over the FBI’s actions Wednesday morning seem awfully keen on trying to pivot away from talk of the corruption probe to how Fox News allegedly got the first scoop on the raids to begin with, because apparently that’s the bigger “issue” to them:

Case in point, House Speaker Don Scott, who included this in his statement:

It also raises important questions. How was Fox News, a national media outlet, first on the scene? Did they know about the raid beforehand? If so, who approved that?

Meanwhile, Lucas, who is typically somewhat of a prolific tweeter, has gone silent on social media all of a sudden. Others, however, have stepped in to fill the void:

Lastly, rumors are swirling that Secretary of State Marco Rubio is suiting up for what could be his latest assignment:

We’ll keep you posted. Stay tuned.

Editor’s Note: The 2026 Midterms will determine the fate of President Trump’s America First agenda. Republicans must maintain control of both chambers of Congress.
