Two people were shot in an encounter with Secret Service near the White House on Saturday, according to a law enforcement official.
The incident occurred near the intersection of Pennsylvania Avenue and 17th Street Northwest. The law enforcement official said officers from the Secret Service’s uniformed division responded to a report of a person firing a weapon when the incident took place.
The U.S. Secret Service also released a statement by a spokesperson on X:
We are aware of reports of shots fired near 17th Street and Pennsylvania Avenue NW and are working to corroborate the information with personnel on the ground. Additional information will be provided as it becomes available.

In an update X post, ABC News senior WH correspondent Selina Wang gave context on the video she shared (see original story):
“I was in the middle of taping on my iPhone for a social video from the White House North Lawn when we heard the shots. It sounded like dozens of gunshots. We were told to sprint to the press briefing room where we are holding now.”
