The political earthquake that shook the U.S. Senate race in Michigan Sunday is still having aftershocks, with political strategist James Carville blasting fellow Democrat Haley Stevens in the harshest of terms for switching sides and endorsing Republican Mike Rogers over Democrat Abdul El-Sayed.
Carville, who became famous during the term of former President Bill Clinton for coining the phrase, “It’s the economy, stupid,” is now likening Stevens to “a used condom.”
“Your political career is over,” Carville said.
“If you think that these Republicans are going to treat you as anything other than what they view you as, and that is, let me just break the news to you, a used condom. The Democrats don’t even think you’re worth a used condom. But that’s about where you are.”
“You made your bed, sleep in it,” Carville continued.
“At some point, like [Sen. John] Fetterman and Stevens, maybe we need to open a cheeseburger restaurant somewhere. I don’t know.”

Another political icon and Trump loyalist Roger Stone said of Carville: “Once a redneck piece of s***, always a redneck piece of s***.”
Political pundit Scott Jennings noted: “Never seen anything like the anti-woman crash out going on [right now]. Wow.”
Commentator David J. Freeman said: “Their elder statesman went straight for the gutter. Democrats lecture you about respecting women right up until a woman steps out of line.”
The Western Lensman added: “Carville’s cheese has slid all the way off the cracker.”
As WorldNetDaily reported, U.S. Rep. Haley Stevens, D-Mich., a Christian who lost to Democrat Abdul El-Sayed in the primary, on Sunday pulled her endorsement of her Muslim colleague and instead endorsed Republican candidate Mike Rogers.

“Hey Michigan,” Stevens said in a video recorded in her car, “as you may have seen, our Democratic nominee for U.S. Senate Abdul said that I was no longer welcome in his campaign and that I should stay away. And he’s right.”
“And that’s why I am endorsing Mike Rogers for the United States Senate today. I don’t belong in Abdul’s campaign. I do not stand with Hasan Piker who gets trafficked on our college campuses.
“A dear friend of mine earlier today was saying that education is on the ballot, and she’s absolutely right. And what our students see, what our children see and who we are as Michiganders is not hate and is not what were are getting out from our Democratic nominee right now.”
Stevens stressed she is “just one person.”
“I’m still a very proud Democrat. I still very much believe in everything I voted for and said,” she explained. I’ve worked really hard and will continue to do so in all the ways life’s opportunities afford. Godspeed and love you all so much.”

Stevens actually attended church with the Republican Rogers on Sunday, and said afterward, “We have to stand with country. We can’t stand with hate. We can’t stand with Hasan Piker.”

“The ballot box is still very personal and private. … All I can do is lead with love and integrity.”

Rogers told reporters: “I’m honored to have Haley Stevens support today. I’m honored to have earned that vote.”
“This is more a statement about standing together against hate and the future of this state and this country than it is anything else.”
He added: “There is a chorus of Democrats around this state who say Abdul is too extreme.”
El-Sayed on Sunday indcated he was “a lot more focused” on issues, as he urged reporters not ask him questions about Stevens endorsing Rogers.
“If you want to ask me some questions about intrigue and about two folks who aren’t here right now, I’m going to be less interested in answering.”

President Donald Trump said: “Wow, this is BIG! Congresswoman Haley Stevens, a Highly Respected Democrat, who narrowly lost in the Primary to Abdul Mohamed El-Sayed, and who has been breathlessly wined and dined by the Dumocrats to help in their Michigan Campaign for the United States Senate against Mike Rogers, has just ENDORSED Mike Rogers for Senate!
“Her following is huge, and the level of respect from the People of Michigan, especially our African American and Jewish populations, is virtually unparalleled. Haley said what few people are willing to say. She showed great and almost unprecedented loyalty to the Great People of Michigan with what she did. It’s a thing called bravery, and few people have it like just displayed by Congresswoman Haley Stevens!”
