The Trump administration has been like a bloodhound on the trail of evildoers since returning to the White House in Jan. 2025 when it comes to ferreting out the waste, fraud, and abuse in our nation’s voter rolls.
One of the chief people on the case of ensuring election integrity, as RedState has previously written, is Assistant Attorney General Harmeet Dhillon, who leads the Civil Right Division in the Justice Department (DOJ). As of early Jan., the DOJ has sued 23 states – mostly Democrat-run – for their resistance to requests by the Justice Department to access voter rolls.
Justice Department Now Suing 4 More States for Refusing to Fork Over Voter Rolls Data
During a recent interview, Dhillon gives the American people an update on the latest wins her office has accomplished by enforcing the laws on the books, contrasting it with the glaring weaponization that took place under former Pres. Biden.
Under this @TheJusticeDept, the era of weaponizing the federal government against states upholding election integrity is over.

She notes that they forced North Carolina to take 100,000 voter registrations, and clean them up by proving that the people registered are U.S. citizens. She also said the DOJ helped Wyoming defend their “excellent voter ID law from challenge by the Left.”
Then she adds that she agrees with the host that “this never would have been done in the prior administration. In fact, they hired a bunch of lawyers to weaponize the federal government against states trying to do a better job of election integrity.”
“We put an end to that,” she says in conclusion. And this week, as my colleague Susie Moore detailed, Dhillon was part of another election integrity win:
Proud to have co-authored the US amicus brief supporting standing in this case — now federal candidates may challenge mail-in ballot procedures. #WINNING!! @CivilRights Great outcome! 6-3 pic.twitter.com/wJnlatF1Sx

The process isn’t over, though. On Friday, AAG Dhillon had some bad news for the Dems running elections in the commonwealth of Virginia – the ones who have refused to work with the administration on securing free and fair voting for all Americans – with the announcement of a 24th lawsuit:
Virginia becomes the next state sued for ignoring federal law! @TheJusticeDept means business — and @CivilRights will keep fighting to clean up voter rolls. Happy Friday! pic.twitter.com/duG4gWhYiz

“Virginia becomes the next state sued for ignoring federal law! @TheJusticeDept means business — and @CivilRights will keep fighting to clean up voter rolls. Happy Friday!” she wrote on her X account.
The suit, filed in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia, Richmond Division, against Susan Beals, the Commissioner of the Virginia Department of Elections, states that Beals’ “refusal to provide the election records” requested by the DOJ violates Title III of the Civil Rights Act. It also asks the court to “order Commissioner Beals to provide to the Attorney General or her representative” those records of registered voters within five days of a court order.
Virginia’s Elections Commissioner might want to check her inbox immediately. We’ll provide any updates on this developing story as warranted.
