Anti-ICE Crew Sets Up ‘Checkpoints’ in Minneapolis – RedState

The anti-ICE folks in Minneapolis are continuing their actions, and they aren’t just affecting ICE.

We’ve reported on how they’ve followed people, thinking they were ICE agents, and provoked confrontations, demanding to know who the people driving in “their neighborhood” were. There were also the poor tech guys who someone apparently thought looked like ICE. They were just trying to have a quiet lunch when they discovered they’d been identified as ICE and a crowd formed to yell at them.

Now there’s a new move afoot, as our sister site Hot Air notes.  The anti-ICE crew is trying to set up what they’re calling “community-driven checkpoints” at intersections. Listen to the police questioning them about it as they gripe that the police are “openly collaborating with ICE” to shut it down.

Meanwhile, the police appear way too nice to them when they should be clearing them out of there – hey, officers,  they have a chair in the middle of the street? I think the big red thing is supposed to be a heart with an eye, so you can “see with your heart.” Yeesh. The police express concern about first responders, and the anti-ICE guys say they would clear it out to let them pass.

Oh, yes, and that’s a new X account, so it sounds like they’re preparing for more action.

They were stopping cars at a “filter blockade.” They claimed they “run the plate through a database, and confirm whether the vehicle is affiliated with abductors before letting it through.” They asked people to bring signs and firewood on Sunday to one intersection “to help hold the intersection and impede ICE operations as much as possible.” That sure sounds like an effort to “impede.”

The irony of setting up a “checkpoint” to let people pass is apparently lost on them. So the government actually elected by the people isn’t allowed to enforce the laws passed by the representatives of the people in Congress. But random folks can decide to do this. Do they even listen to themselves? I guess their right to throw a tantrum over their political agenda trumps the rights of the people trying to get through the area. And some of them are wearing masks? I thought those were bad and frightening.

Are the police stopping this? It didn’t look like it there.

Frankly, this kind of stuff is also a pretty dumb move. Nothing ticks people off more than people blocking the road when they’re trying to get to work or to go home. They’re likely ticking off some folks who might otherwise agree with them. I also don’t get how they think that would stop ICE, who would likely know they were there and just approach another way.

Now it looks relatively limited so far based on what they’ve posted.

People saw the irony.
