A “prolific leaker” has been snagged by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, and DHS Secretary Kristi Noem says the individual will be referred to the Justice Department for prosecution.
While Noem identified neither the name nor rank of the alleged leaker, she indicated, “[Shawn Cohen] is down another source – we just caught another prolific leaker putting our DHS law enforcement at risk as they already face 8,000% increase in death threats against them.
“I plan to refer this individual to the Justice Department for criminal prosecution.”
Cohen is a Daily Mail reporter who has published allegations about DHS based on anonymous sources.
One recent story Cohen wrote says: “Donald Trump is facing a revolt from his most loyal MAGA supporters over fears the largest mass deportation effort in U.S. history could unravel within the next 24 hours amid talks to wind down operations in Minneapolis.”
Noem warned: “We are agnostic about your standing, tenure, political appointment, or status as a career civil servant – we will track down leakers and prosecute them to the fullest extent of the law.”
Ben Whedon at Just the News noted: “During the first Trump administration, anonymous leakers and internal saboteurs were pervasive in the DHS, with agency chief of staff Miles Taylor later being outed as ‘Anonymous,’ the author of an op-ed detailing internal efforts by anti-Trump figures to derail his agenda from within.”
