Drone Attacks, Dem Witness Implosions, and Media Malpractice

Welcome to the RedState Weekly Briefing  — where we take a quick look at the week’s most viewed stories in case you missed any of them. What do you suppose caught people’s attention in this latest whirlwind week? Grab a cup of coffee (or something stronger if you’re so inclined), and sit down with this 21st Century Weekend Edition of your favorite (online) publication — here we go!

#1 – Massive Ukrainian Drone Attack Deletes a Third of Russia’s Bomber Fleet and Sends a Warning to the US — by streiff

The close-in impact of the attack will be apparent Monday when Ukrainian and Russian negotiators meet in Istanbul. I wouldn’t expect a deal or even progress, but I would expect fireworks. I wouldn’t be shocked to see the Russians refuse to show up or storm out of the session.

However, the main impact of this extends beyond Ukraine and Russia.

In December 2024, the U.S. Coast Guard reported that dozens of drones had shadowed its cutters while at sea. New Jersey Representative Jeff Van Drew said “that ‘very qualified’ and ‘reliable’ sources believe the mystery drones flying over New Jersey are originating from an Iranian ‘mother ship’ parked off the U.S. East Coast.” This, to me, reasonable assertion was immediately howled down.

Pentagon spokesperson Sabrina Singh emphatically denied Drew’s remarks Wednesday.

“There is no Iranian ship off the coast of the United States, and there’s no so-called mothership launching drones towards the United States,” she said.

#2 – Republican Rep Asks Dem Witness if She’s a ‘Covert White Supremacist’ – Her Answer Leaves Him Dumbfounded — by Rusty Weiss

Gill began his questioning by noting Yentel has “written a lot about anti-racism and white fragility” in the past, and offered her an opportunity to state whether or not she believes President Trump is a racist.

Yentel pivoted, unwilling to make such a declaration on the record. Undaunted, the Texas congressman pointed out that she has said on social media that the President is a “vile, despicable racist.”

He also asked the witness if she found Trump’s housing policies to be racist. Again, that’s something she tweeted, and again, it was something she was unwilling to say at the hearing.

Here’s where Gill’s grilling turns into an absolute work of art. He reveals that one of her affiliate charities has expressed that “denial of racism”—something she just denied multiple times—”constitutes covert white supremacy.”

“Are you a covert white supremacist?” he asked flat out.

Yentel time and time again refused to say no, leaving Gill by his own admission “dumbfounded.”

#3 – Watch: Sen. Kennedy’s Brutal Takedown of Dem Witness During Hearing on Nationwide Injunctions — by Nick Arama

Kennedy said he discounted what she had to say, and he worried “that that’s what you’re teaching your kids.”

But Kennedy had more in the tank, and her response was something else.

“On April 22nd, 2024, you said there are some members of the Supreme Court that are evil. Which justices were you talking about?” he asked.

She protested that she didn’t think that she’d said it. But he told her when and in what context it was said. He pressed her and asked her to “own up to it.” “You’re an officer of the court,” he said. He stated that he was embarrassed that she was “teaching our kids.” She said again that she didn’t think she would have said it. That’s when he raised his voice, which he rarely does, “You did!…big as Dallas!”

#4 – Dave Chappelle Reveals Hilarious Reaction SNL Writers Had to Trump Winning: ‘You Should Have Seen Them’ — by Rusty Weiss

Chappelle, speaking with fellow comic Mo Amer on Variety magazine’s “Actors on Actors” series, recalled hosting the show on the first Saturday after that historic election. However, he also drew on the reactions of the writers and cast as they prepared during the week.

“Man, when they called Donald Trump the winner – that s*** shut the writers’ room down,” he said, promoting hearty laughter from Amer.

“You should have seen them in there – the first one – boy, they was crying … They couldn’t believe that this was happening.”

#5 – Fox News, AP, CNN, Others Ran With Massive Hamas-Sourced Fake News, Then the Surveillance Video Came Out — by Bonchie

To recap, major news outlets, including Fox News, ran with a completely unsubstantiated tale of IDF forces carrying out a mass attack on civilians trying to collect aid. They didn’t ask for any proof before spewing claims that were obviously sourced by Hamas. Further, one day prior, Hamas told the United States that any ceasefire deal must include the cessation of current aid distribution. Why? Because when the terrorists don’t control the aid, it strips them of their control over the people. Yet, these “news outlets” still uncritically reported a made-up blood libel about an aid center being the site of a massacre.

This harkens back to the mass of false reporting in November of 2023 about Israel supposedly bombing a hospital and killing at least 700 people. By the next day, it was made clear that not only was there no bombing by Israel (a Palestinian Jihad rocket had fallen short in an adjoining parking lot), but that the actual death toll was around 25 people. Yet, CNN, the AP, Fox News, and the rest continue to cite the “Gaza Health Ministry” despite its long history of lying to prop up Hamas. What an absolute disgrace the press is.
