My RedState friends Brad Slager, Ward Clark and Brandon Morse have all issued stark warnings about their states–Florida, Alaska, and Texas, respectively–and very subtly urged New York’s progressive Democrats not to move to any of those locations.
After Democrat socialist Zohran Mamdani won the NYC Democrat mayoral primary earlier this month and put himself in a strong position to win the general election in November, many New Yawkas are freaking out and worried that the radical antisemite will turn the Big Apple into a big communist hellhole, and they want out.
Don’t come here, my colleagues seem to be saying:
For New Yorkers Looking to Flee, a Cautionary Warning: Florida Is Not the Paradise You May Envision
Anxious New Yorkers: You Should Avoid Alaska at All Costs
Dear New Yorkers: Texas Will Break You
If Brad, Ward and Brandon don’t want you terrified blue-city residents, I’ll invite you to California. There are a number of reasons why you would love it here.
Our Governor
In the Golden State, we have a governor who cares. He’ll tell you so himself on his podcast or in his endless angry tweets. And he’s not just concerned about mundane things like making the state livable, he is thinking about more high-minded affairs, like thumbing his nose at Donald Trump and allowing boys to play in women’s sports.
You could feel cozy at night, knowing Gavin Newsom is out there somewhere signaling to everyone how virtuous he is, and by extension, how virtuous California is. And how virtuous you would be if you became a part of things out here on the Left Coast.
Let’s break down @realDonaldTrump‘s Big, Beautiful Betrayal:
❌Billions of dollars cut from Medicaid
❌Millions of people losing health care coverage
❌Hundreds of thousands of Californians at risk of losing food assistance

Homelessness
Then-San Francisco Mayor Gavin Newsom announced in 2008 that he was going to solve the homeless problem that plagues the city, and he’s made many announcements since assuming the governorship that he’ll solve it statewide. It hasn’t worked out very well so far, but sometimes it’s the thought that counts, and he had a great thought there.
In 2008, Gavin Newsom presented his “ten-year plan to end homelessness in San Francisco.”
It’s crucial to recognize broader socio-economic factors while acknowledging the exponential rise in homelessness.

You Can Be Part of The Greater Good
You can play your role in social causes, helping out undocumented people and killing the energy business. How? Through your taxes. You can pay some of the highest taxes in the nation here, along with the country’s highest gas prices, and your voluntary contributions will go toward contributing to a lot of wonderful things. You won’t actually ever see any of those things, but you’ll know in your heart that you did good.
The Bullet Train
Soon, you could be zipping around in a fancy new bullet train that will take you all sorts of places you’ve always wanted to go, like Merced. The project is a little behind schedule, but it will be so cool when it’s done!
Sean Duffy Brings Down the Hammer on California’s Utterly Failed Transportation Boondoggle
California’s high-speed rail has all the marks of a boondoggle:
– $16 billion spent
– 17 years gone
– No high-speed track laidWe have put California on notice: If you can’t deliver, American taxpayers will not fund your train to nowhere. pic.twitter.com/EHradMYSRv

You Can Be the Better Person Even As People Call You Stupid
Folks will tell you you’re an idiot for staying in California—when so many businesses and people have fled—but you’ll know better and scoff at them. Just remind them they probably have to deal with things that we don’t have to, like winter!
You Won’t Have to Watch Your City Decline
Think about it—if Mamdani wins, New York City would decline even further, and you’d have to watch it.
You wouldn’t have to in sunny California because that’s already happened to most of our cities. With constant looting, the highest homeless population in the country, human waste covering the streets of San Francisco, and downtown LA now a vast homeless encampment, the decline has already happened in many places. You would avoid having to see it happen in real time.
Sharp-eyed readers may have at this point realized that I am dabbling in sarcasm. The state does have a few issues, I admit it. Okay, the real truth is, we really need your tax dollars because Newsom spent just about all our money on healthcare for illegal aliens. Can’t you help us out?

Did I mention that the weather is really, really nice here?
