Hollywood Hypocrisy Exposed As Elites Leave Trash-Filled Auditorium, Ignore Squalor on Streets Outside – RedState

Here’s a travel secret: Hollywood Boulevard should not be on your must-see places to visit. In fact, a recent travel guide showed that tourists rated it the “worst” tourist destination in the world.

It’s dirty, impossible to get to by public transportation, its streets are crawling with crazy people and homelessness, and there’s not really anything to see. Except for a few newer buildings, entire blocks look old and decaying.

It is, however, home to the Academy Awards, which is held in the state-of-the-art Dolby Theater, and if you manage to make your way inside there, you’d forget all about the sleaziness outside.

Hollywood celebs are continually going on about the danger of waste, the planet dying from climate change, and the perils of overconsumption. That doesn’t mean any of their rules apply to themselves, however:

“Clean up on aisle ALL,” said one viral tweet in response.

“Aren’t some of them environmentalists?” wrote another observer on X.  “Where’s all that ‘protect the planet’ energy now?”

If you’re a star, though, you don’t have to witness the regular state of Hollywood Boulevard because the LAPD, in concert with other authorities, closes down the streets for blocks around the event, and the streets are sanitized. All the squalor magically disappears for one short weekend a year:

Meanwhile, the hypocrisy shown during the actual ceremony wasn’t much better; here’s RedState’s own Brad Slager’s terrific takedown breakdown:

Were The Oscars Political and Insufferable? Yes. But, They Were Also Something More: Remarkably Stupid

Meanwhile, here’s Sunset Boulevard, just a stone’s throw away, but to my knowledge, not a single celeb took to the stage to decry what’s happening there. Cat got your tongue, Javier Bardem?

Hope at least your Airbnb is nice, visitors.

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences brushed back the complaints and said the organization was all about “sustainability.” Sure, we’ll just let the little people clean it up.

“A source within the Academy insisted the social media post was taken out of context and was a “misunderstanding.”

“Guests were asked to leave boxes behind, and it wasn’t an issue for sustainability,” the source told the California Post. “The Academy is dedicated to sustainability.”

I’m one of those guys who throws out my popcorn after the movie, and puts the cart back where it belongs after grocery shopping, but hey, that’s just me.

Most of the folks who were at the Dolby went on to post-Oscar parties and reveled in their virtuousness. Hollywood Boulevard, however, will soon revert to its past, decrepit state, the elites will say nothing, and the non-glamorous people will scrub down the theater and get rid of all the waste left behind.

Much of it will probably head straight for the landfill.
