In another damning example of the Biden regime’s catastrophic border and immigration failures, Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) in Los Angeles has rearrested a Moldovan fugitive illegal alien convicted in her home country of premeditated murder “with exceptional cruelty.”
According to a Department of Homeland Security (DHS) statement obtained by Fox News correspondent Bill Melugin, the fugitive, identified as Victoria Sorocean, brutally tortured her victim, beating them with an electrical cable and stick, before throwing the person from a ninth-story window.
Sorocean fled Moldova to avoid serving a 17-year prison sentence and was first captured by ICE during the Trump administration in January 2020.
At the time, Trump’s immigration enforcement was actively pursuing violent fugitives from foreign nations to prevent them from finding refuge in American communities.
However, DHS confirmed that after her 2020 arrest, Sorocean filed a series of legal appeals to delay deportation and, under the Biden administration in 2022, was released back into the U.S. rather than returned to face justice in Moldova.
ICE officers under President Trump’s renewed immigration mandate located and arrested Sorocean once again in Los Angeles. She is now back in federal custody pending deportation.
Assistant Secretary for Homeland Security Tricia McLaughlin condemned the prior release in no uncertain terms:
“In 2022, Sorocean was released back into the country under the Biden administration. It shocks the conscience that the Biden Administration released into America a cruel, violent illegal alien who tortured a human being, beat them with an electrical cable and a stick, and then threw her victim from a ninth-floor window.”
McLaughlin continued, emphasizing that under President Trump and Secretary Kristi Noem, the U.S. is reestablishing a zero-tolerance policy toward violent foreign criminals:
“These are the types of barbaric criminal illegal aliens ICE is targeting every single day. 70% of all ICE arrests are of illegal aliens charged or convicted of a crime in the U.S. This does not even include foreign fugitives like this convicted murderer. Under President Trump and Secretary Noem, the world’s criminals are no longer welcome in the U.S.”
