Iran launched dozens, maybe hundreds, of drones toward Israel after the overnight bombings that killed a number of is military leaders and destroyed multiple military and nuclear weapons development complexes.

And Israel shot them down.

A UPI report said Jerusalem largely was deserted Friday morning, after the IDF had ordered residents to avoid travel and stay close to air raid shelters.

It also confirmed its air defenses had repelled an Iranian assault that came via drones.

“Israel Defense Forces said Iran had launched more than 100 drones toward Israel, prompting the Home Front Command to order the public to remain close to air-raid shelters, but the warnings were later scaled back after Air Force interceptor fighter jets and anti-missile systems downed or disabled the majority,” the report confirmed.

The blasts at Iran’s attack capabilities were continuing, said the report.

“This operation will continue for as many days as it takes to remove this threat,” Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu confirmed.

He said the operation is called “Operation Rising Lion” and it was intended to “roll back the Iranian threat to Israel’s very survival” from Iran’s advancing nuclear program, the report noted.

Netanyahu said Iran was close to acquiring a nuclear bomb, and that process had to be halted.

Iran’s foreign ministry said, “In accordance with Article 51 of the U.N. Charter, Iran reserves the legitimate and legal right to respond to this aggression. The Armed Forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran will not hesitate to defend Iran’s sovereignty with full strength and in the manner they deem appropriate.”

President Donald Trump repeated his agenda point, that Iran “cannot have a nuclear bomb.”

He’s been urging the Islamic regime to negotiate a deal.

NATO Secretary-General Mark Rutte called for Israel allies to consider de-escalation as “the first order of the day.”

CBS said the IDF reported Israel’s defenses intercepted “many” of Iran’s drones.

The report said, “Israel has intercepted virtually every Iranian weapon launched in previous large-scale attacks by the Islamic republic.”

Iran’s president, Mahsoud Pezeshkian, promised his country would “strongly take action,” the report said.
