As Democrats have been casting around, trying to figure out how to repackage themselves so that the American people might vote for them again, they’ve found themselves without a leader.
Joe Biden was missing even while in office, and Kamala Harris was soundly rejected in the 2024 presidential election. Meanwhile, former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) should have retired long ago.
So the “leaders” have de facto been the “loudest mouths” — the ones casting about for attention, like former Democrat vice presidential nominee and Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz, Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY), and Rep. Jasmine Crockett (D-TX). They mostly get attention by saying extreme things to appeal to the left. But that means that in a national contest – such as running for president – they would likely be rejected by the middle.

Jasmine Crockett Tries to Explain Democrat Playbook, Spews Out Kamala-Worthy Gibberish Instead
Crockett had a couple of wild takes during an appearance on Jim Acosta’s podcast on Thursday.
Acosta spoke about the Democrats’ resistance efforts against ICE. He said he was concerned that people like Crockett, who are “more outspoken in the House,” might get arrested.

See what he does there: If they arrest her, it’s because she’s “outspoken” against Trump, not because she broke the law.
Then, Crockett responded with some bizarre story to encourage the fear that people are being randomly picked up and arrested. She claimed that there was a target on her back because Trump talks about her.
What she said next was hilarious. She stated she thought he was listening to the “polling”:

She said she didn’t know what was happening in Republican polling, but she claimed that she’s been approached by Republicans who tell her that they “really like her,” that they might disagree with her, but they agree with her “fight.”
She thought that what was “scary for them” was that it wasn’t just black people listening to her, or super liberal folks. People who aren’t even Democrats are listening to her. And she’s pleased as punch at that thought.
Now, some might think that she’s just making that up, and perhaps she is. But there’s a funnier explanation.
There’s been a move on X of Republicans posting at her account, encouraging her and telling her they like her because they want to keep her as the “face.” They think it’s advantageous…to Republicans. I can completely believe she might have Republicans putting her on in real life, if they recognize her, especially in Texas. But she may not understand that and truly think Republicans like her. (I don’t think people like Liz Cheney or Adam Kinzinger count.)

In terms of who is targeting whom, it sounds like Rep. Crockett’s the one who hopes to target Trump if she becomes the head of the House Oversight Committee, which is what she’s angling for. She promises investigations of Trump, of course.

It would test whether Democrats want to sink themselves, because I don’t think they’d go for her. But if they continue down their present path, we wouldn’t even have to answer that question because they wouldn’t get back in power.
