LAPD Being Pulled From ‘Crime Suppression Efforts’ to Provide Security for Kamala Harris – RedState

Los Angeles Police Department officers from the elite Metro Division have been reassigned from active cases and crime suppression duties to provide security for former Vice President Kamala Harris.

The move comes following news that Harris’s Secret Service protection, secretly extended for an extra year by Joe Biden, has been revoked by President Trump.

Local television station Fox 11 cited over a dozen sources who report that “Metro officers have been pulled from working cases to provide Harris protection.”

Some of those officers had been working on “crime suppression efforts.”

Video emerged of unmarked LAPD vehicles outside of Harris’s Brentwood home, where she resides with her husband, Doug Emhoff.

The latest report comes as RedState’s Becca Lower revealed that California Governor Gavin Newsom is in discussions to provide California Highway Patrol officers to replace security Harris was never entitled to in the first place.

Newsom falsely claimed that the revocation of Secret Service detail for the Veep was a result of “erratic, vindictive political impulses” by President Trump.

Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass made similar baseless claims under false pretenses that the President had somehow done anything other than remove an unwarranted courtesy provided to Harris, calling it an “act of revenge.”

“This is another act of revenge following a long list of political retaliation in the form of firings, the revoking of security clearances and more,” a statement from Bass’s office reads. “This puts the former Vice President in danger and I look forward to working with the Governor to make sure Vice President Harris is safe in Los Angeles.”

Trump signed a letter to Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem last week authorizing her to revoke Harris’s extra security detail.

The President’s move is a matter of following the Former Vice President Protection Act, passed in 2008, granting the Secret Service authority to provide protection for six months after a former Veep leaves office. Former President Biden issued a directive granting Harris Secret Service protection for three times as long as other vice presidents by extending it for an additional full year.

Biden himself and Mike Pence only had the protection for six months before having to hire their own private security.

Harris’s security should have ended in July. It ran an extra two months thanks to Biden and/or his autopen. Trump set things straight.

The Associated Press reports that recent threat intelligence assessments conducted by the Secret Service found no credible threats against Harris.

Harris should be paying for private security as she embarks on a nationwide book tour next month for her forthcoming memoir “107 Days.” Instead, taxpayers in Los Angeles are now on the hook. And officers meant for deterring crime in a city overrun by criminals are being used for her majesty’s private security, rather than protecting residents.
