Mamdani’s Beyond Belief Presser on Islamist Attack Shows He’s Completely Compromised – RedState

As RedState reported, two people were arrested on Saturday after they attempted to detonate improvised explosive devices in the middle of a protest near New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani’s residence.

Emir Balat and Ibrahim Kayumi, both Muslims, were part of a “counter-protest” in support of Mamdani. According to authorities, they lit one device and dropped another. Both tested positive for explosive material, and New York City Police Commissioner Jessica Tisch stated that the attack is being investigated as an “act of ISIS-inspired terrorism.”

Astonishingly, Mamdani’s statement on the matter didn’t mention the Islamic attackers. Instead, he attempted to frame the attack as coming from “white supremacists.”

MAMDANI: Yesterday, white supremacist Jake Lang organized a protest outside Gracie Mansion rooted in bigotry and racism. Such hate has no place in New York City. It is an affront to our city’s values and the unity that defines who we are.

What followed was even more disturbing. Violence at a protest is never acceptable. The attempt to use an explosive device and hurt others is not only criminal, it is reprehensible and the antithesis of who we are.

I want to thank the brave men and women of the NYPD who acted quickly to keep New Yorkers safe. Our officers ran toward danger without hesitation, demonstrating once again the courage and dedication it takes to protect this city every single day.

My administration is closely monitoring the situation and I remain in close contact with our Police Commissioner.

You can’t parody this guy. Though the Babylon Bee tried to no avail.

So when I saw Mamdani had a presser scheduled for Monday morning, my first thought was, “He’s going to condemn Islamophobia, isn’t he?”

Sure enough, these were his opening comments. As I said, you can’t parody this guy.

MAMDANI: Good morning. On Saturday, a protest was held outside Gracie Mansion, where I live with my wife Rama. Neither of us was home at the time. This was a vile protest rooted in white supremacy entitled “Stop the Islamic takeover of New York City.” I’m the first Mulsim mayor of our city. Anti-Muslim bigotry is nothing new to me, nor is it anything new to the roughly one million New Yorkers who know this city as our home.

If you listen to his full remarks, while he specifically mentions and condemns “white supremacy,” he never condemns Islamism, despite it being the known motivation of the attack. I guess some ideologies are worth mentioning more than others. Or more likely, Mamdani is so compromised that he wouldn’t dare say anything negative about Islam.

This is what New Yorkers elected. A man who will obfuscate and tacitly defend terrorism because he sees his own political and religious worldview in its reflection. It shouldn’t be difficult to denounce the ideology driving Islamic attacks across the world, yet Mamdani repeatedly paints them as victims.

Never mind that Mamdani’s still-short tenure has so far been plagued by financial and logistical failures, whether it be budget shortfalls (while he funds childcare for illegal immigrants, no less) or an inability to clear snow. How many times do voters have to learn that flowery language and being able to read a teleprompter don’t equate to capability? Yet, here we are, with the mayor of America’s largest city floundering and talking about “white supremacy” while Islamists try to blow people up. It’s insane.
