U.S. Rep. Eric Swalwell, the California Democrat running for governor of the Golden State, is now being referred to the Department of Homeland Security for potential prosecution for hiring an unauthorized Brazilian nanny, all while being hammered by top members of his own staff amid claims of severe sexual misconduct against four woman, including a former staffer who was allegedly raped twice.
DHS posted Sunday that U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services “has been collecting information on the allegations involving Congressman Eric Swalwell hiring of a Brazilian national as a nanny without lawful work authorization.”
“USCIS has referred this matter to DHS law enforcement for investigation. No one is above the law, including a member of Congress.”

Meanwhile, both congressional staff and members of Swalwell’s gubernatorial campaign have issued a scathing public statement this weekend, indicating: “As leaders of teams working for Eric Swalwell, we’re horrified by the recent reporting in the San Francisco Chronicle and by CNN.
“We stand with our former colleague, and the other women who have come forward. We believe you should stand with them, too. The behavior detailed in these reports is abhorrent, beneath the dignity of those serving in public office and betrays the trust of all Californians.

“We also understand that we lead teams who need guidance and stability now, more than ever. We are focused on supporting our colleagues during this challenging time.
“Any decision of staff members to remain in their roles in the interim should not be viewed as support for Eric Swalwell. We recognize that not everyone – in particular our junior staff – can immediately forfeit their income and benefits without significant personal risk or consequence. Our responsibility now is to them.”
Also on Saturday, Martin Shkreli also released shocking video appearing to show the married congressman spending intimate time on a bed with a woman who is not his wife, and who Swalwell said was a sex worker.
As WorldNetDaily reported last week, Democrat activist Cheyenne Hunt posted a video to Instagram on March 31 alleging that Swalwell “has a known history of being predatory towards women.”
“And while it may be seen as politically expedient to sweep this under the rug, it is the wrong thing to do and we know it,” she added in the video. “I worked on the Hill, I know many women who still do and this message that I received yesterday is not unique.”
“These allegations of sexual assault are flat false,” Swalwell said in a video posted late Friday night. “They did not happen. They have never happened.”
“I do not suggest to you in any way that I’m perfect or a saint. I have certainly made mistakes in judgment in my past, but those are between me and my wife – and to her I apologize deeply for putting her into this position.”

On Saturday, John Nolte of Breitbart News suggested many in the national media are suddenly piling on with anti-Swalwell coverage to force him out of the California governor race, only because it would increase the chance of electing a Democrat to the state’s top job.
“This is the corporate media doing what the corporate media always do,” Nolte wrote.” If you want to understand how the media operate, whenever you see the media do something – anything – ask yourself one question: How does this benefit Democrats? To wit …
“The upcoming June 2 California gubernatorial primary is not like other primaries. Instead of one Democrat primary winner and one Republican primary winner facing off in the general election, the top two vote-getters advance to the general election … regardless of party. Now go and look at the polls. As you can see, there’s a very real chance two Republicans could win the primary, which would ensure a Republican becomes governor of California.
“The media and Democrats cannot allow that possibility, so it’s been decided that Swalwell must be sacrificed. His sacrifice will break the three-way tie between the three top Democrats – Swalwell, Katie Porter, and Tom Steyer – and once Swalwell’s 15 percent support moves to the other two, one or both is certain to go on to compete in the general election, which practically ensures Democrats hold onto California’s governor’s seat.
“You see, if Swalwell were polling at 30 percent instead of his current 15 percent, the media cover-up of these allegations would continue because no one would be sweating a Republican sneaking into victory.”
