With all the in-depth revelations that have come out about the Biden decline cover-up in the new book “Original Sin,” one would think that the media reckoning would have already commenced, with reporters stepping forward en masse to admit that they should have done their jobs.
Instead, we’ve seen most of them feign shock in their reporting on the issue, dutifully questioning Democrats on what they knew and when while pretending they, too, didn’t play a significant role in the scandal with their shaming campaigns and denials.
Perhaps even more incredibly, one of the lead Baghdad Bobs on the subject was none other than CNN anchor Jake Tapper, one of the authors of the book, who is trying to get us to believe that the reason it wasn’t covered more extensively at the time was because the Biden-Harris White House was deceiving them.

About the only real media admission of significance was when former NBC News “Meet the Press” host Chuck Todd told Piers Morgan back in April that the reason more in the MSM didn’t press the issue of Biden’s decline was because they were afraid they’d be helping Donald Trump.
“The only thing I can chalk it up to is this, whatever you want to call it, this fear that some members of the media had sometimes that they would be perceived as helping Trump if they somehow diminished Biden,” Todd told Morgan at the time, while laughably suggesting he was one of the few who was consistently asking questions about Biden’s health during his time in office.
On Friday, Todd was back again for another back-and-forth with Morgan on his podcast “Uncensored,” where the topic was once again the media’s culpability in the massive cover-up.
But instead of conceding Morgan’s point that if it had been Trump dealing with cognitive decline then the mainstream media would have been all over it, Todd instead pivoted to some pretty pathetic whataboutism, referencing Trump being up late posting on social media sometimes or making early morning phone calls as evidence of cognitive decline and what he called “manic” behavior.
Morgan was not having it, telling Todd that he’d known Trump a long time and that he’d always been eccentric. When Todd said in so many words that he’d been told similar things about Biden in terms of how he spoke and behaved, Morgan countered by noting that the difference was that Trump always made himself available at all hours of the day, unlike Biden, and didn’t shield himself from scrutiny.
Todd then childishly downplayed Trump’s willingness to engage with the press, asking, “But if the words are crazy, does that make it better?”
Morgan finally explained to Todd that even Trump being “a bit crazy” (with “crazy” apparently meaning having a personality along with a willingness to be frank) did not equate to cognitive decline.

What an absolutely pathetic position for Todd to take, considering he danged well knows there’s a Grand Canyon of difference between a 2 am tweet from the president and a president who is so out of it at times that unelected aides around him are effectively running the country, including during the all-important 3 am phone call.
But we knew this was always where it was going to end up, didn’t we? Democrat apologists in the press using the Biden book as a pretext for insinuations and questions about Trump’s mental and physical health, along with a sprinkling of whatabouting, something we’ve already seen Tapper do in various interviews.
Coming from the same folks who expressed “concern” over Trump once walking down a ramp slowly and drinking a glass of water with two hands, and who often had on “mental health experts” to try and diagnose Trump from afar, I guess we shouldn’t be too surprised. Still infuriating to watch all the same, but not surprising in the least.
These people are shameless, have learned nothing, and will never, ever change.
