Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis has described the nation’s H-1B visa program as “a scam,” highlighting the practice of U.S. companies firing American workers to hire cheaper foreign employees.
At an event to discuss his state’s Back-to-School Sales Tax Holiday, DeSantis blasted the visa program as “terrible policy.”
Said DeSantis: “A lot of these Republicans say, ‘You can have a million people plow in. As long as it’s legal, that’s good.’ Is that really good? A lot of these tech companies are laying off American workers and then importing H-1B visas. I think that’s a TOTAL scam.”

As WND has reported, an untold number of Americans have lost their jobs, especially in the tech industry, thanks to the visa programs that allow companies to import workers who then replace Americans.
When the federal government authorizes millions of foreign nationals to enter the workforce each year, it floods the job market and stacks the deck against American citizens.
President Trump’s Homeland Security Department recently filed a notice of a possible change in H-1B requirements with the Office of Information and Regulatory Affairs.
