Senate Dems in a Tizzy Over Bessent Saying Trump’s Signature Will Appear on Currency for America 250 – RedState

It’s like clockwork. You somehow just know Liz Warren, liberal senator of Massachusetts, would jump right in on a story like this, and you would be correct. My colleague Sister Toldjah predicted a few days back that implosions were imminent on that side of the aisle.

Readers might recall this came courtesy of Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent giving them the bad news this week on the celebrations over the 250th anniversary (the semiquincentennial) of America’s founding including the addition, for the first time ever, of the signature of a living U.S. president – number 47, Donald J. Trump – to the paper currency.

The Democrats are 100 percent sure this time, that they have Republicans cornered! You might say the Senate Dems have worked themselves into a tizzy here; just check out this strongly-worded letter from Liz Warren and her progressive comrade, Sen. Jeff Merkley (D-OR), to Bessent, which reads, in part:

Sens. Elizabeth Warren (Mass.), the top Democrat on the Senate Banking Committee, and Jeff Merkley (D-Ore.) pressed Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent in a letter Thursday to explain how the decision “will in any way benefit the American public.”

“In reality, Americans are facing an affordability crisis, and America’s economy is on shaky ground,” they wrote, pointing to instability linked to the ongoing conflict with Iran, from higher mortgage rates to concerns about global inflation.

It’s important, also, to remember that people on the Left like Liz Warren and Jeff Merkley are socialists in Democrat clothing who think your money belongs to the government. Which would explain why the all-important deadline for Warren and Merkley’s demands to be met fall on… Apr. 15. Now, what happens then, readers?

The letter continues with copious amounts of faux outrage and delicious leftist tears:

“It is deeply unclear how, if at all, the Administration believes that emblazoning U.S. currency with President Trump’s signature will address any of the serious problems facing the American public,” they wrote.

“Yet President Trump does have a history of cashing in on his name to paper over abject business failures,” they added, citing a Washington Post report from 2017 that found Trump has made millions of dollars by licensing his last name to entities around the world.

There’s the go-to, the personal insult, for the Left. Warren is probably still hopping mad about the news on tax refunds to Americans “soaring by double digits” on the incoming 2025 returns, as my colleague Bob Hoge wrote.

Then again, the Dems could just be grumpy over the release of the budget proposal by the White House to Congress this week, showing many of their most cherished, woke and wasteful pork programs getting sliced up like a butcher’s cleaver on a side of USDA grade beef.

Did you see how they tried to spin this, demanding to know how it solves the “affordability crisis”? It’s all about the midterms, you know? Imagine having the guts to ask about lower prices for the Amercan people, when Biden and company (with the aid and comfort of Democrats in Congress) caused the border crisis, helping to strain the resources and blow up occupancy rates of housing in many cities, gummed up the supply chain of goods, while inflation skyrocketed during his four-year term.

There’s also this concept that eludes them: This is the very definition of petty, when people cannot see that symbolism is a part of the presidency – and our rich heritage as a nation. It isn’t an in significant thing to mark our founding. But the Dems are not great on caring about upholding the traditions that unite us as Americans; instead, they are ever looking for ways to tear us apart into tiny fiefdoms of identity to conquer.

Editor’s Note: The 2026 Midterms will determine the fate of President Trump’s America First agenda. Republicans must maintain control of both chambers of Congress.
