Monumental Media Malpractice: CBS Deceptively Edits Sec. Kristi Noem Interview
CBS, in this instance, deprived its viewers of critical information, in this case, namely, Kilmar Abrego Garcia’s criminal background.
‘Lazy Butt’: Gavin Newsom Comes for Sen. Kennedy in Crime Debate, Probably Wishes He Hadn’t
In other words, Gavin. You’re out of your league, and out of your depth. So you might wanna sit down.
Mike Lee Squares Off With Hakeem Jeffries Amid Debate Over Kamala’s Secret Service Detail
I mean, if Gavin Newsom and Karen Bass can find the money to fund Kamala Harris’ security, why can’t they find the money to fund the things related to the public safety and security of ALL California residents, like Prop 36?

The Massacre We Should Be Learning From Right Now
Just as in Minneapolis, those students and teachers were sitting ducks. They were a prime target, and their only real protection was some words on a piece of paper that said people couldn’t do what the killers turned around and did.
The Left Glories in Insulting and Suppressing Ordinary Americans
It is their failure that did it. And their response has been to insult us. Bow down to Queer ideology! Pentagrams are cool! Try an orgy!
But put on your mask.
Guess What DOGE Found Your Money Is Funding Now!
While it would be better if Congress would join in more enthusiastically, at least DOGE is making headway on the mountain of unjustifiable and unnecessary federal government contracts and programs.
Dems, Please Cry More About the New Rules
They changed the rules, so they’re going to pay a price if they want the Old Rules back now that they realize that the New Rules are a jagged little suppository.
Wow, she has been around a LOOONG TIME.
WHAT’S ON TAP?
Today on Capitol Hill…
Goodness, gracious, we’re almost there: Tomorrow, the critters officially return to the Hill and start crittering again. What joys (and frustrations) will they bring us? We know the appropriations battle is going to be front-and-center (pardon the Punchbowl spin):
The federal government shuts down on Oct. 1, barring a bipartisan funding deal – even a short-term one – as the White House unilaterally slashes billions of dollars of previously approved spending.
Democrats are infuriated. They were skeptical about negotiating a funding deal with Republicans after Trump and GOP leaders jammed through a $9 billion rescissions package in mid-July. Now, Trump is slashing billions of dollars in funding without Congress via legally questionable “pocket rescissions.”
White House What’s Up
As has been the case for much of this Labor Day weekend, President Trump has no public events scheduled. I suppose it’s a testament to his typically frenetic schedule that the second he takes some downtime, the left pounces on it as evidence that he’s ill or worse. I wouldn’t be surprised if we catch sight of him golfing today, and I expect he’ll be back at it, signing executive orders and giving off-the-cuff remarks to the press, prompting much wailing and gnashing of teeth come Tuesday.
Full Court Press…
The big court news over the weekend was the temporary restraining order issued by D.C. District Judge Sparkle Sooknanan prohibiting the administration from returning approximately 10 Guatemalan children to their home country after the National Immigration Law Center raced to court on Sunday and sought the order. The administration has since filed multiple status reports with the court affirming that all of the minors remain in Office of Refugee Resettlement custody. This one’s going to be hotly contested over the next few weeks, no doubt.
And, of course, there was the rather stunning decision late Friday from the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit striking down many of the tariffs imposed by the Trump administration. As noted in our reporting on that decision, it won’t take effect until October 14, and one suspects, in addition to urging Congress to take action on the tariff front, the administration will appeal the decision to the Supreme Court.
COMING ATTRACTIONS
Obviously, the big thing is, as noted above, the return of Congress on Tuesday. We can expect that to be accompanied by a flurry of activity — and hearings!
MORNING MUSING
Just as President Trump enjoyed a somewhat quieter weekend, it seems the news decided to cap off summer with a slightly quieter bent as well — or maybe that was just my perception, as I took advantage of the holiday weekend to celebrate my birthday (Sunday) by following the advice of the always sage Harmeet Dhillon:
Go touch some grass, folks. It’s a long weekend! Your X beefs and drama will be waiting when you get back — tan, rested, and ready to make our country greater!

I treated myself to some comfort food after a long work day on Friday, covered my standard Saturday morning volunteer shift at the dog shelter, enjoyed some pool time, had dinner with my sister, had an early Sunday breakfast with my handsome beau, covered my Sunday morning desk shift here, then enjoyed more pool time on Sunday afternoon. And heck, I may even try to sneak in a bit more today, with it being a holiday. I spoke with and received sweet messages from friends and family. Basically, I just took a moment to take a deep breath and enjoy the respite while I can — because, no doubt, things are about to get right back to being hectic.
I’ll tell you: I don’t feel 57. Oh, physically, I maybe come close. I move a tad slower, and heaven knows I’ve packed on more lbs. than I’m comfortable with. (I’m returning to the Mediterranean Diet starting today — for real.) But mentally/psychologically, I feel mid-30s-ish. (Which doesn’t really compute, given my daughter is now in her 20s.) Fifty-seven once seemed/sounded borderline geriatric, and now, here I am. And I’m all too aware that 58 will be knocking on my door in the blink of an eye. Funny the way time does that.
In any event, here’s to 57. It seems okay. So far. 🥂
LIGHTER FARE
Totally inappropriate for a holiday, and yet…mine did something similar this morning (though I think hers was accidental — just kicking in her sleep 😂).
