Dave Chappelle Reveals Hilarious Reaction SNL Writers Had to Trump Winning: ‘You Should Have Seen Them’

Oh, to have been a fly on the wall at the time. The tears. The hugs. It, without a doubt, would have been the funniest thing SNL had produced in years.

Republican Rep Asks Dem Witness if She’s a ‘Covert White Supremacist’ – Her Answer Leaves Him Dumbfounded

Now he’s masterfully dismantled an expert witness Democrat lawmakers thought would defend NGOs, instead exposing her history of partisan and radical leftist posts on social media.

Karine Jean-Pierre’s New Book Already Engulfed by Scandal, Private Emails Released Exposing Lies

This attempt at a tiger changing its stripes is brazenly ridiculous.

Trending Across Townhall Media

Defense Attorney Blames Permitless Carry Laws for Client’s Alleged Crimes

Permitless carry hasn’t led to Wild West shootouts or anarchy on city streets, and it shouldn’t be blamed for every criminal act involving a firearm… or in the case of Dearman, it shouldn’t be blamed for what he says was really an act of self-defense.

Comer Laying Down the Auto-Pen Pardon Testimony Law

The pucker factor has to be off the charts.

After Years of Calling Us Nazis, NY Times Panel Wonders Where All the Empathy Went

My overwhelming response when first seeing this on Tuesday was, “DO THESE IDIOTS EVER HEAR THEMSELVES?!?!?”

The Courts Are Courting Disaster by Alienating Conservatives

Of course, this raises the question of why we need courts at all to resolve questions about government powers. If it’s going to be just another political branch, that’s superfluous when we already have a legislature and an executive.

Scott Jennings Can Barely Contain Himself as Dem Advocates Raising Taxes and Putting More on Welfare

Democrats claim it’s compassion, but it’s slavery. Same Democrat Party, different methods.

WHAT’S ON TAP?

Today on Capitol Hill…

Thursday will be another busy day on the Hill. Of course, the “Big, Beautiful Bill” is a hot topic, particularly as the Senate tries to get its version finalized and passed. If you’re looking for a good explainer as to what the BBB can and cannot accomplish, and what other efforts are underway as to DOGE cuts, etc., I recommend Jennifer Van Laar’s helpful breakdown of it:

As far as hearings/meetings today, there are several, including:

  • House Agriculture, Conservation, Research, and Biotechnology Subcommittee — “Supporting Farmers, Strengthening Conservation, Sustaining Working Lands”
  • House Financial Services, Financial Institutions and Monetary Policy Subcommittee — Framework for the Future: Reviewing Data Privacy in Today’s Financial System
  • House Judiciary, Crime and Federal Government Surveillance Subcommittee — “Foreign Influence on American’s Data Through the CLOUD Act”
  • House Oversight and Government Reform — “The Federal Government in the Age of Artificial Intelligence”
  • House Science, Space, and Technology, Research and Technology Subcommittee — Pursuing the Golden Age of Innovation: Strategic Priorities in Biotechnology
  • House Homeland Security, Counterterrorism and Intelligence Subcommittee — “Among Us: Evaluating Sleeper Cell Activity and Other Subversion and Sabotage Threats”
  • House Foreign Affairs, Middle East and North Africa Subcommittee — After Assad: The Future of Syria

White House What’s Up

President Donald Trump will greet and meet with Germany’s Chancellor Friedrich Merz today and then have lunch with him. Later in the afternoon, Trump will participate in a roundtable discussion with the Fraternal Order of Police.

Keeping Up With the Cabinet

Sec. Treasury – Scott Bessent — Bessent shared a thread on X on the critical importance of passing the BBB — worth a read, IMO.

Sec. Commerce – Howard Lutnick — Lutnick testified before Congress on Wednesday and emphasized that “The days of endless spending without paying attention [are] gone.”

Sec. Education – Linda McMahon — McMahon notified Columbia University that they broke civil rights laws during the anti-Israel protests.

Admin. Small Business Association – Kelly Loeffler — Loeffler also testified before Congress on Wednesday, noting that, “For decades, China and other foreign adversaries have crushed American industry and jobs with unfair trade practices. Small businesses never had anyone fighting for them – until President Trump.”

Dir. Office of Management and Budget – Russ Vought — Vought shared the OMB review of CBO’s scoring of the BBB.

Full Court Press…

The Supreme Court will issue opinions today starting at 10:00 a.m. Eastern. We can expect several of them. We’ll be monitoring and will report on any key rulings (and I will, of course, have a Skinny on SCOTUS following).

There were several notable court actions on Wednesday, including a Colorado judge who decided to (temporarily) block the removal of Mohamed Soliman’s family and a ruling from Judge Boasberg on those Tren de Aragua removals that, while more measured than his initial rulings, is still problematic.

COMING ATTRACTIONS

President Trump will be traveling to the Hague for a couple of days on June 24. Of course, next week is the big celebration for the 250th Birthday of the Army (along with Flag Day and Trump’s 79th birthday).

MORNING MUSING

This morning’s musing brought to you by Gen-X and the best era to be a kid/teen. (I won’t limit it to purely the 80s because there was some righteous goodness in the 70s, as well.) I never gave all that much thought to the musical group A-ha or the song “Take On Me” when it was a big hit. It was all part and parcel of the early-mid-80s MTV pop/synth melange. Pleasant enough — maybe even a tad avant-garde with the animated aspect of the video. But not deep.

I saw/listened to this version of it last night on X, and suddenly, it was bittersweet and full of hidden meaning. I guess I’m just getting old. But man…those were some days.
