ABC News senior national correspondent Terry Moran will not be back on the network’s air after being suspended following his late-night rant on X about President Donald Trump and Deputy Chief of Staff for Policy and Homeland Security Advisor Stephen Miller.
In a statement on Tuesday from an ABC News spokesperson, the network said, “We are at the end of our agreement with Terry Moran and based on his recent post — which was a clear violation of ABC News policies — we have made the decision to not renew.”
“At ABC News, we hold all of our reporters to the highest standards of objectivity, fairness and professionalism, and we remain committed to delivering straightforward, trusted journalism,” the statement added.
In a since-deleted post on social media, Moran showed he couldn’t be impartial when he went after Trump and Miller, calling them “world-class haters.”
“Miller is a man who is richly endowed with the capacity for hatred. He’s a world-class hater,” Moran wrote in the now-deleted post. “You can see this just by looking at him because you can see that his hatreds are his spiritual nourishment. He eats his hate.”
“Trump is a world-class hater. But his hatred only [sic] a means to an end, and that end his[sic] his own glorification. That’s his spiritual nourishment,“ Moran continued.

In the network’s initial response, a spokesperson for the news company said that “ABC News stands for objectivity and impartiality in its news coverage and does not condone subjective personal attacks on others.”
“The post does not reflect the views of ABC News and violated our standards — as a result, Terry Moran has been suspended pending further evaluation,“ it added.
Vice President JD Vance and White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt were among the individuals who criticized Moran’s post, urging ABC News to apologize to Miller and hold Moran accountable before the suspension was announced.
Vance came to Miller’s defense, calling it a “vile smear“ and saying people should “remember this every time they watch ABC’s coverage of the Trump administration.”
As it happens, I know Stephen quite well. And he’s motivated by love of country. He’s motivated by a fear that people like Terry Moran make rules that normal Americans have to follow, but well connected people don’t.
It’s why he fought so hard to get President Trump elected and why he works to hard to implement the agenda.
ABC should apologize to Stephen. What Terry posted is disgraceful.
Leavitt called for action by ABC, saying this was “unhinged and unacceptable.“
Last night, in a since deleted post, so-called “journalist” @TerryMoran went on a rampage against Stephen Miller and called President Trump “a world class hater.”
This is unhinged and unacceptable.
We have reached out to @ABC to inquire about how they plan to hold Terry… pic.twitter.com/HsgusJEIvH
