Tom Cruise Just Broke an Insane World Record All To Entertain Audiences – RedState

Tom Cruise has broken an insane Guinness World Record, and it’s because of one of the many crazy stunts he did for “Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning,” and we are all here for it.

During production of the final movie in the “Mission: Impossible” franchise, the 62-year-old actor was awarded the Guinness World Records title, and it was for doing 16 burning parachute jumps, The Wrap reported. It all happened while filming the unbelievable plane sequence for M:I 8 that can be seen below.

Yes, you read that correctly. The actor jumps out of a helicopter with a parachute that catches fire in an incredible aerial stunt for the final film. And when we say the parachute ignites, we mean it becomes fully engulfed in flames within what appeared to be seconds.

“Tom doesn’t just play action heroes – he is an action hero,” Craig Glenday, editor-in-chief of Guinness World Records, said on Thursday.

“A large part of his success can be chalked up to his absolute focus on authenticity and pushing the boundaries of what a leading man can do. It’s an honor to be able to recognize his utter fearlessness with this new Guinness World Records title,” he added.

In the new behind-the-scenes video shared Thursday on YouTube from Paramount Pictures, Cruise explained that, “If this is twisted while it’s burning, I’m going to be spinning and burnt. I have to kick out of the twist and then ignite in 10 seconds.”

“We’re going to be real smart. I’m not saying be risky. We don’t take risks, obviously,” he added in the clip, before he starts laughing. It was a reference to all the crazy stunts he’s done over the last eight M:I films to entertain audiences, like jumping off a building, scaling the Burj Khalifa, hanging off the side of a plane, etc.

The “Top Gun” star has proven over and over again that he understands what the audience wants and continues to show Hollywood how a movie star should act by avoiding talking politics at movie promotional events and in his films, RedState reported.

Brandon Morse wrote that:

Recently, Cruise has been promoting his upcoming film, the highly anticipated “Mission: Impossible — The Final Reckoning.” Not only has he announced he’s showing up to theaters to greet fans in person as showings…

… but he’s also making sure none of his fans or moviegoers feel alienated in any way, making all feel welcome to see the movie.

Cruise figured out what other celebrities haven’t. If you don’t comment on divisive things, and keep the focus on the movie, then people will be more apt to show up and watch it.

And it’s clearly paying off after his latest film, “Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning,” had a series-best at the box office over Memorial Day weekend. In response,  the actor posted a message on social media simply thanking fans for showing up.

The message in his X post read:

This weekend was one for the history books! Congratulations and thank you to every filmmaker, every artist, every crew member and every single person who works at the studios. To every theater and every employee who helps bring these stories to audiences, thank you. To everyone that works at Paramount Pictures and Skydance, thank you for your many years of partnership and unwavering support. And most of all, THANK YOU to audiences everywhere for whom we all serve and for whom we all LOVE to entertain. Sincerely, Tom.
