In an absolutely appalling display of leftist elitism run amok, a decent portion of the crowd at Sunday’s football game between the Washington Commanders and the Detroit Lions – played on the Commanders’ home turf at Northwest Stadium in Landover, Maryland – booed President Trump as he swore in new members of the military as part of the National Football League’s Salute to Service initiative.
The festivities were part of a league-wide recognition of service members ahead of Veterans Day, but the people of the DMV (District-Maryland-Virginia) ruined the reverent occasion with their entitled, boorish behavior.
Here’s what happened:
Washington Commanders fans faced backlash on Sunday as they booed President Donald Trump as he read the names of those enlisting in the U.S. military.
The new members of the military were at Northwest Stadium as part of the NFL’s “Salute to Service” festivities ahead of Veterans Day. Trump was seen at the stadium reading off names on the public address system of the stadium.
To recap, as our Commander in Chief read the names of new military recruits and led them through their swearing-in ceremony, a portion of the Commanders fan base jeered. The dolts thought they were jeering the president, but what they actually did was jeer the young men and women who just pledged to risk their lives to ensure the crowd’s freedom to boo Donald Trump. Think about that.

Sure, booing presidents and other political figures when they show up at sporting events is a favorite pastime for Americans. Free speech at its finest. That’s how we got “Let’s go, Brandon,” after all. But, make no mistake, that’s not what happened at Northwest Stadium. What actually happened was a bunch of Democrats, likely drunk on Bud Light and high on the fact that they’re liberals living in the DMV, decided their hatred of Donald Trump outweighed their ability to be decent people.
In the lead up to Sunday’s game, the team seemed excited about Trump’s appearance, with Commanders club president Mark Clouse commenting, “We are honored to welcome President Trump to the game as we celebrate those who have served and continue to serve our country. The entire Commanders organization is proud to participate in the NFL’s league-wide Salute to Service initiative, recognizing the dedication and sacrifice of our nation’s veterans, active-duty service members, and their families this Sunday.”
If you wanted to be kind to the crowd, you might point out the fact that there were a lot of blue jerseys in the stands, so maybe it was a bunch of out-of-town troublemakers who embarrassed themselves. Or, you might make the case that the fans were salty as they watched their team’s car crash of a season continue its downward slide and couldn’t control their emotions.
Or, you could be like Sean Spicer, former Trump spokesperson and a captain in the Navy reserve, and call it what it was: “disgusting and pathetic.”

“What appalled me about that was that he was enlisting service members while that was happening on Veterans Day weekend. I found that disgusting and pathetic … you want to boo the president when he arrives or whatever, you have a First Amendment right to do that,” Spicer said. “While members of our country are on the field being sworn into our armed services and that’s how you act — it actually viscerally upset the hell out of me to watch fellow Americans boo people who are on the field getting sworn in to serve our country.”
On a lighter note, there were some touching scenes to emerge from Northwest Stadium, including an encounter between the president and a young football fan.

There was also an epic flyover as Air Force One flew over the stadium on its way to Joint Base Andrews.

President Trump’s appearance was the first time a sitting president had attended an NFL game since 1978.
