The Democrats are certainly guilty of leading parts of the country down a socialist, “progressive” path that has left many of our cities in ruins. They divide the country with their polarizing, violent rhetoric, and they regularly spit on patriots who think it’s OK to celebrate our country.
But they have long had a partner, one that has caused as much if not more damage than they have: the mainstream media, or whatever name you want to call the collection of leftist legacy outlets that for many years dominated the news landscape. (Thanks to conservative outlets like RedState, their dominance is fading, but all too many people still pay attention to the extremist drivel they package as unbiased news.)
In case you thought they were changing their ways, just look at this garbage piece thrown up by CBS News on Sunday on what was once their celebrated news magazine, 60 Minutes:
After natural disasters, white nationalists, militias, and conspiracists often arrive, offering help. But they also want to recruit and improve their image. Watch the full 60 Minutes report: https://t.co/ZjckEj3Lt8 pic.twitter.com/C2Gc4hb4k5

There are so many things wrong with this broadcast, including numerous insinuations and unsubstantiated allegations, but let’s just start with host Lesley Stahl’s demeanor. I wrote in a story on Sunday, arguing that the Democrats have officially become the party of doom and gloom, of celebration of failure, of condemnation of success, and of just an overall depressed worldview. Conservatives, however, offer hope, the celebration of life and America, and positivity.
If you don’t believe me, just watch Stahl. She looks to be in such despair throughout the entire piece that it’s unclear how she’s able to pull herself out of bed each morning.
Of course, the story itself is much worse than her demeanor. She casts aspersions on numerous groups that have a documented record of showing up to help those in need after a natural disaster hits. Could this be more obnoxious?
Our story tonight is about what happens after these natural disasters. A pattern has emerged in recent years in which militias, conspiracists, and white supremacists show up to hard-hit communities — as they did last week in Texas — offering help. But they’ve been called disaster tourists who are out to sow doubt in government, soften their own image and gain followers.
Her proof? An interview with some no-name who calls himself a nationalist. He explicitly rejects the term “White nationalist,” calling it “a slander-ish term.” Although his views may not be palatable, and he has some questionable incidents in his past, he is accused of no wrongdoing at disaster sites and has shown up with his group, Active Club, to help out on several occasions. To imply that all the conservative rescue operations are represented by groups like this is just plain yellow journalism.
Here’s former RNC Rapid Response Director Steve Guest weighing in:
Leslie Stahl just did a segment on 60 Minutes about a small white supremacist group that no one has ever heard of with 0 pause to address the fact the Southern Poverty Law Center — what was the ‘premier’ hate watch group—paid the KKK and was just indicted because they lied to… https://t.co/yFZylNVp4A pic.twitter.com/wxdqDZ32BH

Leslie Stahl just did a segment on 60 Minutes about a small white supremacist group that no one has ever heard of with 0 pause to address the fact the Southern Poverty Law Center — what was the ‘premier’ hate watch group—paid the KKK and was just indicted because they lied to donors, paid violent extremists millions, and “manufactured racism” for their own purposes
“The SPLC was not dismantling these groups. It was instead manufacturing the extremism it purports to oppose.” Per Todd Blanche
Stahl could have blurbed CBS News on 60 Minutes….
Ah, yes, the notorious Southern Poverty Law Center. 60 Minutes almost seems to be operating with their playbook: smear, denigrate, and demonize organizations whose ideologies run counter to yours. Except in the case of the SPLC, they are now accused of actually propping up and funding actual violent, intolerant groups:

Stahl didn’t directly call out the Cajun Navy, a volunteer rescue group made up mostly of Louisianians that has arrived with aid following Hurricane Katrina, Hurricane Harvey, and many other disasters. Considering they are one of the more high-profile rescue teams, however, her hit piece certainly implies that they’re part of this dark network of which she speaks.
They’re not having it:
We have many media outlets that are very good to us. Then there’s this trash. This SCREAMS “Funded by the @splcenter“… Even though we aren’t mentioned, we would still be happy to comment ON THE RECORD about what 🐴 💩 this is. It’s time to put @60Minutes out to pasture, Holla! https://t.co/X6RglQQFvR

60 Minutes contributes nothing helpful to the country with this type of divide-and-conquer journalism. There are many rescuers who have been heroic, and to imply that they’re all secret hate mongers just because some of the beliefs of some of the lesser-known fringe characters aren’t to your liking is just more leftist garbage. If they came to these disaster sites and spouted truly hateful rhetoric and committed violence, that would be one thing, but I’ve read the entire transcript, and Stahl does not bring the goods when it comes to that.
She just wants to hit anybody who isn’t part of the Democrat machine, and it’s one in a million reasons why the mainstream media has lost its credibility and why, as we love to say around here, “you can’t hate the media enough.”
