It’s not just the race for California governor that he’s quitting, U.S. Rep. Eric Swalwell announced Monday he is resigning his seat in Congress amid explosive allegations of sexual assault against numerous women.
“I am aware of efforts to bring an immediate expulsion vote against me and other members,” the Democrat Swalwell said.
“Expelling anyone in Congress without due process, within days of an allegation being made, is wrong. But it’s also wrong for my constituents to have me distracted from my duties. Therefore, I plan to resign my seat in Congress.”
“I am deeply sorry to my family, staff, and constituents for mistakes in judgment I’ve made in my past. I will fight the serious, false allegation made against me. However, I must take responsibility and ownership for the mistakes I did make.”

He added: “I will work work with my staff in the coming days to ensure they are able, in my absence, to serve the needs of the good people of the 14th congressional district.”
U.S. Rep. Anna Paulina Luna, R-Fla., who had been pushing for Swalwell’s ouster, posted on X Monday afternoon: “I am being told there will be more disgusting stuff coming out on Swallwell in the next 24 hours. For the members of Congress who are concerned about optics on expelling Swalwell, I think after the information drops you will be thinking otherwise.
“Eric, why dont you tell us a little about who was filming the video of the female sex worker.”

Upon learning of Swalwell’s quitting announcement, Luna said: “Eric, you did the right thing by resigning. However, don’t you dare say there weren’t grounds for your expulsion because there absolutely were. He made the correct decision, but there still needs to be a full-fledged criminal investigation. Based on what I’m hearing, he may go to jail.”
As WorldNetDaily reported, Swalwell on Sunday night suspended his campaign for California governor.

“I am suspending my campaign for Governor,” Swalwell wrote on X. “To my family, staff, friends, and supporters, I am deeply sorry for mistakes in judgment I’ve made in my past.
“I will fight the serious, false allegations that have been made – but that’s my fight, not a campaign’s.”
Additionally, leftist billionaire Stephen Cloobeck cut ties in dramatic fashion with Swalwell on Sunday, kicking him out of his palatial Beverly Hills mansion just hours before the Democrat congressman accused of sexual assault by numerous women quit his campaign for governor.
“I am no longer supporting Eric,” Cloobeck told the New York Post. “F***ing tell everyone I’m a libertarian. F*** you, Democrat Party. I’m a libertarian now.”
“These allegations of sexual assault are flat false,” Swalwell said in a video posted late Friday night. “They did not happen. They have never happened.”

“I do not suggest to you in any way that I’m perfect or a saint. I have certainly made mistakes in judgment in my past, but those are between me and my wife – and to her I apologize deeply for putting her into this position.”
On Saturday, John Nolte of Breitbart News suggested many in the national media were suddenly piling on with anti-Swalwell coverage to force him out of the California governor race, only because it would increase the chance of electing a Democrat to the state’s top job.
“This is the corporate media doing what the corporate media always do,” Nolte wrote.” If you want to understand how the media operate, whenever you see the media do something – anything – ask yourself one question: How does this benefit Democrats? To wit …
The upcoming June 2 California gubernatorial primary is not like other primaries. Instead of one Democrat primary winner and one Republican primary winner facing off in the general election, the top two vote-getters advance to the general election … regardless of party. Now go and look at the polls. As you can see, there’s a very real chance two Republicans could win the primary, which would ensure a Republican becomes governor of California.
“The media and Democrats cannot allow that possibility, so it’s been decided that Swalwell must be sacrificed. His sacrifice will break the three-way tie between the three top Democrats – Swalwell, Katie Porter, and Tom Steyer – and once Swalwell’s 15 percent support moves to the other two, one or both is certain to go on to compete in the general election, which practically ensures Democrats hold onto California’s governor’s seat.
“You see, if Swalwell were polling at 30 percent instead of his current 15 percent, the media cover-up of these allegations would continue because no one would be sweating a Republican sneaking into victory.”
