The Iranian regime is just chock-full of delusional officials.
However, the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs Spokesperson, Esmail Baghaei, may be vying for the crown for the most ridiculous remark. He was the guy we reported on earlier who claimed that Iran was a “superpower,” just like the United States. That was pretty bad.

Then, this morning, Baghaei was throwing a fit about X removing Iranian regime account checkmarks.

X has now removed the blue check from Iran’s MFA Spokesperson’s account—after stripping the Ministry and Minister’s verified badges—despite our full Premium+ payments. This arbitrary de-verification fits X’s pattern of selective censorship and American digital piracy, aimed at suppressing the truth about the U.S.’ illegal war against Iran.
Oh, boo hoo. Cry more. I thought you were a “superpower,” and you’re complaining about a checkmark?
They’re lucky they are even allowed to be on X at all.
But what is truly offensive about this is that Baghaei is throwing a fit about a checkmark while the regime has cut off the internet for regular Iranian people for more than two months now. That’s harmed people and businesses greatly in the process, cutting them off from friends and family. It’s even hurt the economy, which doesn’t help the regime, but the regime likely believes that they are stopping people who might want to protest or communicate against the government. If you’re posting from Iran now, you’re either connected to the regime or you’re sneaking the internet through a VPN, with what is likely a costly workaround that may get you in deep trouble.
People let them have it, big time.
I’m Iranan.
Your disgusting terrorist regime just shut down the internet on 90 MILLION PEOPLE for 65 days straight like the barbaric cowards you are.
You have cut Iranians off from the world.
Families can’t speak. Friends are gone. People are suffering, losing everything and… https://t.co/BW0gE1lkPK— Sana Ebrahimi Ledene (@__Injaneb96) May 5, 2026
X has a policy against continued pushing of disinformation.

This is one of those guys running the risk, posting against the regime, with a VPN from Iran. You can see that, if you look at the “Connected via” in the person’s profile.

“I have a blue tick, you don’t, you loser, go cry,” the brave person taunted Baghaei.
I don’t know the official reason for the removal, but repeatedly posting false/fake information can trigger penalties.
Elon Musk, the owner of X, should offer them a deal. He’ll give them back the checkmarks if they free the internet for the Iranian people. They won’t do it, but it will further show how hypocritical they are.
