State orders unauthorized ‘Texas American Muslim University’ to shut down * WorldNetDaily * by Bob Unruh

The state of Texas is moving against the so-called “Texas American Muslim University,” ordering it closed as it is operating without authorization.

The Texas A&M University system also is threatening action against the Muslim “university” for trademark infringement.

The operation has been branding itself as “TexAM University” but had been accused by Gov. Greg Abbott of posing as a higher education institution without authorization.

The Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board, which does not recognize the school as a university, ordered it to cease advertising its programs and enrolling students.

The real school system, Texas A&M University System, followed up with a cease-and-desist letter demanding that the Muslim “university” stop using names and brands that “infringe upon or dilute” Texas A&M’s trademarks.

“The Texas A&M University System has a responsibility to protect the name and trademarks, which represent more than a century of academic excellence, public trust and institutional integrity,” Chancellor Glenn Hegar said.

A published report noted that the Muslim operation “advertises itself as the first university in the country to offer STEM degree programs with mandatory courses in Islamic studies.”

State law in Texas requires private operations to be authorized by state officials in order to grant degrees. The state law is intended to prevent deception and fraud,

A report at the Gateway Pundit explained state officials confirmed the operation never has been granted a Certificate of Authority under the Texas Education Code.

Abbott’s order is to the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board to supervise the immediate closure.

The letter said, “A person or entity’s non-compliance with Chapter 61, Subchapter G, subjects them to criminal punishment, administrative penalties, and liability for civil penalties and injunctive relief (Tex. Educ. Code § 61.316-319). Furthermore, non-compliance is a violation of the Texas Deceptive Trade Practices Act and subjects the person or entity to the criminal and civil liability imposed under that act (Tex. Educ. Code § 61.320).”

TexAM has been promoting its “Spring 2026 Admissions” and already had begun holdings classes.

The report said the operation has been offering master’s degrees in Artificial Intelligence and bachelors’ programs in computer science, IT, cybersecurity, and health informatics.

The school has promoted that about 30% of its curriculum is mandatory Islamic studies.
